KUJÁ BY EKTA · MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Your Perfect Fit Starts Here.

Every Kujá garment is made to your exact measurements. This guide will walk you through everything - simply, clearly, and without any guesswork. It takes about 10 minutes.
Don't worry if this feels new. Hundreds of our US clients have done this from home and every single one got a perfect fit. And if you need help, Ekta herself will guide you on a quick WhatsApp video call.

What You Will Need

  • A Soft Measuring Tape: Available at any pharmacy, craft store, or on Amazon.
  • A Helper: Someone to help you measure accurately. It is very hard to measure yourself accurately, especially your back width and shoulder.
  • Fitted Clothing or Undergarments: Wear the exact bra you plan to wear with the outfit.
  • check_circle

    Stand naturally - don't pose

Stand straight with your feet together, arms relaxed at your sides. Do not suck in your stomach or push your chest out. Measure your real body.

  • check_circle

    Snug, not tight not loose

The tape should lie flat against your skin. You should be able to slip exactly one finger underneath it. If you can fit two, it's too loose. If it pulls, it's too tight.

    Measure in inches, please

All our measurements are in inches. Most US measuring tapes show both inches and centimeters use the inch side.

    Go bigger

If you're between two numbers, always share the larger measurement. It is far easier to take in a garment than to let it out.

    The Complete Measurement Chart

ALL MEASUREMENTS IN INCHES - REQUIRED FOR ALL GARMENT TYPES

MEASUREMENT REQUIRED? HOW TO TAKE IT TIPS & NOTES
    1. Bust / Chest ALWAYS Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest across the nipple line. Keep it parallel to the floor. Breathe normally - do not hold your breath. Wear your regular bra when measuring. This is the most important measurement for your blouse and top fit.
    2. Waist ALWAYS Find your natural waist the narrowest part of your torso, usually about 1 inch above your belly button. Do not pull it tight. This is NOT where your jeans sit it's higher up. Bend to the side where you crease is your natural waist.
    3. Hips ALWAYS Stand with your feet together. Measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks usually 7-9 inches below your natural waist. Keep tape parallel to floor. This is the widest point of your lower body. Don't forget to include the fullest part of your backside.
    4. Shoulder Width ALWAYS Measure from the tip of one shoulder to the tip of the other, going straight across the back. Your helper should do this for you. This determines how the neckline and sleeves fall. Getting this wrong is the most common reason a top doesn't feel right.
    5. Sleeve Length ALWAYS Bend your arm slightly at the elbow. Measure from the top of your shoulder down to your wrist bone. Note if you want full or 3/4 sleeve. Also tell us your preference: full length (to wrist), 3/4 length, elbow length, or sleeveless.
    6. Top / Kurti Length ALWAYS Measure from the top of your shoulder (at the base of your neck) straight down to where you'd like the garment to end. Tell us your preference in words too: hip length (28"-30"), tunic (32"-38"), floor grazing anarkali (55"-58").
    7. Waist to Floor LEHENGA / ANARKALI Stand barefoot on a flat surface. Measure from your natural waist down to the floor. If wearing heels, add 3-4 inches. This determines the skirt length. Tell us if you want the hem to just touch the floor or trail slightly.
    8. Blouse Back Length SAREE / LEHENGA BLOUSE Measure from the middle of the back of your neck down to where you want the blouse to end usually just below the bra strap. For traditional coverage, 15"-16". For a modern cropped blouse, 13"-14".
    9. Salwar / Bottom Length SALWAR SUIT / PALAZZO Measure from the top of your hip (where the salwar waistband sits) down to the ankle. Measure while standing barefoot. Tell us the style you prefer: straight patiala, churidar (fitted), wide-leg palazzo, or flared.
    10. Dupatta Preference INCLUDED No measurement needed just your preference. Tell us if you want a shorter dupatta (stole style) or a longer one. Let us know the draping style you prefer - plain panel, heavy embroidered border, or matching fabric.
    11. Your Height ALWAYS Your full height in feet and inches. Stand against a wall without shoes and measure to the top of your head. This helps us verify your other measurements. Mention your typical heel height if you'll be wearing heels.
    12. Weight (Optional) OPTIONAL This is completely optional. It helps Ekta cross-reference your measurements and catch any discrepancies. Kept completely confidential.

    Common Mistakes to Avoid

    DO THIS

    • Measure over a bra or fitted top not a padded bra or heavy shirt
    • Ask someone else to take your measurements always more accurate
    • Measure the same spot 2-3 times and take the average if numbers differ
    • Stand on a flat, hard floor (not carpet) when measuring height and length
    • Mention your heel height if you plan to wear heels with the outfit
    • Share your measurements in inches even a rough approximation helps
    • WhatsApp Ekta if you're unsure about any single measurement
    • Share reference photos of styles, necklines, or lengths you love

    AVOID THIS

    • Don't guess your measurements even being 1 inch off can affect the fit
    • Don't measure over thick clothing, a jacket, or a winter sweater
    • Don't pull the tape tight it should be snug, not constricting
    • Don't use your clothing label size US sizes 8 and 10 mean nothing to the tailor
    • Don't forget to measure height it's used to check proportion of all lengths
    • Don't hold your breath while measuring your bust or waist
    • Don't measure yourself alone if you can avoid it it affects accuracy
    • Don't wait until the last minute custom orders take 6-8 weeks
